During a graphic design elective my junior year at KCAI, I took inspiration from the KC Tenants Union to create various political protest posters.

This process started by attending a meeting of organization, and taking observation of the design details that were already being used and displayed in their visual assets. From here, I acquired visual assets such as photography and specific fonts to conceptualize and create new posters with the goal of not creating a new image, but elevating the image they already had established.

During a graphic design elective my junior year at KCAI, KCUR collaborated with the Art Institute's graphic design department to create visuals for their podcast episodes featuring stories on local news and history. For my assignment, I focused on the story of Lea Hopkins, an american LGBT rights activist and poet from Missouri, best known for founding Kansas City's Pride Parade.

For this, I went down the path of trying to put facts about Hopkins in the hands of individuals going to queer spaces in the city. I landed on creating drink coasters featuring designs that show facts about Hopkins and her work for the KC queer community. I then made these physically, and put them in queer spaces around the city.

In spring of 2024, I was tasked to create a 90-second animated film as apart of my animation-major curriculum. For this assignment, I wrote, directed, and starred in a music video to an original song called "Olive Branch".

These pieces were created as initial concepts for the style of mixed-media I was aiming for in this video.
